National Poetry Writing Month: Days 1 - 8

These are brought over from my blog, since it took me too long to get this one set up...

Chester (NaPoWriMo Day 1)

Chill out with the Fuzzy One
He knows
Exactly where to
Stretch out in order
To spread his fur into
Every nook and cranny of his
Residence.

Soho (NaPoWriMo Day 2)

Spastic kitty, thundering through the house.
One can't help but wonder,
How those can be the same delicate paws which reach

Out to pat my arm, asking for attention.

Sherwood (NaPoWriMo Day 3)
Come to the Faire! (Sherwood Forest Faire, that is)

Spring is here
Heed the Summons,
Escape with us, join
Robin and his Merry Men.
Wake mem'ries
Of old. Travel in time. If
Only for the
Day.

Dark and Light (NaPoWriMo Day 4)

Bright light
Radiating from
The street lamp,
Illuminating
Only its
Tiny
Circle
Failing to penetrate
The blackness
Beyond.

Names (NaPoWriMo Day 5)

Hidden meanings,
Enchanting rhythm,
A label to bring
A cherished one to mind,
Or banish a foe.
Whatsoever
You call me,
Perhaps 'tis best
To not call me
By name.

Dirt (NaPoWriMo Day 6)

Such a small space
Over shadowed
By the towering buildings
On either side.
Filth covering the ground
To the point where
There is no distinction
Between the two.
Suffocating
Dumpster stench
Chokes the air.
Huddled in the back
Crouched shivering
In the corner
Just another
Bit of filth
Lost in the forgotten
Depths of the
Alley.

 Burning (NaPoWriMo Day 7)

Once it was
A passion
Hotter than
Could be endured.
Then it dropped
To smoldering.
And later
The fire returned,
But, it was
No longer
Passion
That burned
With such
Intensity.

Tomorrow (NaPoWriMo Day 8)
Each day
We go through our steps
Follow the routine.
And tomorrow,
This will be done
And tomorrow,
I will do that.
Come the morning
Through the day,
This and that
Are put off
Again.
How lucky we are
That tomorrow
Is never quite
Now.
